Care and Storage of Stackable Chairs
The summer sun is fading and the chilly night air is starting to blow, so it is time to consider putting your
stackable chairs away. Your last effort at doing that left you with broken, cracked chairs and you ended up having
to buy all new ones the following spring. But, with a little bit of extra time spent before the chairs are stored
can save you money as well as time the following season.
Before you put your chairs away, inspect them for any signs of damage, including cracks and chips. If they have
been out in the yard or on an uncovered porch area, wash the chairs down, making sure that they are completely dry
before you start to put them away. Once they are completely dry, you can stack the chairs carefully together,
taking care that they are fitting well together without worry of them getting stuck together while in storage.
Also, don’t stack so many of the chairs together that you cannot easily move them from place to place. Once you
move them to where they will be stored away, cover them with either a chair cover that is large enough to fit the
whole stack or with an old bed sheet that you tie to all of the legs of the chair.

When you go to take them out of storage for the season, inspect the chairs carefully once again. If they were
stored well, it should only be a matter of spraying them off quickly and then putting them where you want them. If
there are any cracks in the chairs, you may be able to repair them unless the crack is very severe or affects the
stability of the chair. Since they are typically lower cost chairs, you can just replace them instead of trying to
make a repair that will possibly fail at the wrong moment.
One of the best things about these chairs is how versatile they can be. They can be moved from place to place as
they are needed. They can be left as they are or they can be painted to match a color scheme. You can add a cushion
to the chairs to make them even more comfortable. In thousands of dorm rooms and first apartments, these chairs
have even made it inside, graduating from yard furniture to the dining room furniture. They are found in every
area, from beach houses to wooded cabin retreats, suburban homes and even on the balcony of urban apartments. There
is no limit to where you might find stackable chairs because they are inexpensive, light weight and easy to take
care of.
